Colorblock Fit and Flare Dress

January 26, 2015

Hey there peeps! I'm back! I've been out of town, getting over a cold, and trying to snap as many pictures as I can of LOFT's Amazing new Spring pieces!

This dress has been all over on my Instagram the past few weeks (because I love it that much!)! You guys gave me some great feedback on this photo and asked a lot of questions, so I wanted to dish on the details! I'm excited to finally share it with you! :)

We've had some crazy inclement weather, so my pictures have been limited to the indoors as of late. :)

Here we go!

Hello Dress!

This LOFT dress is a mixture of cotton, polyester and spandex and it is machine washable (Our wallets are cheering!). It has the most flattering fit and flare shape, which is universally complimenting. It does run a bit small, so I do recommend sizing up.

As a curvy bum girl, I personally love the colorblocking! The white and grey automatically bring the eye up to the narrowest part of your body (your waist!), while the black skirt helps minimize the hips and bum.
Don't even get me started on the comfy factor! This dress is a Major win for Winter and will carry me right on into Spring.

Here's how I styled it!

For the Office

My office is always Freezing, so for some extra warmth and a pop of color, I threw on my LOFT infinity scarf (Purchased last Fall, similar option here!).

Night Out

It's amazing what a statement necklace can do for your outfit. I took this dress from business casual straight to dinner just by swapping out my scarf for this gorgeous necklace (Currently on Major sale Here!). I plan to add a red coat for Valentines Day. :)

I  Love the little button detail! The honeycomb pattern in the bodice may be small, but it definitely adds impact to this otherwise very simple dress. Nothing but Love here folks. <3

The Shoes

I found these black suede Wedges by Clarks on Nordstrom's sight a few weeks ago. They were on sale, but I ended up finding them cheaper on Amazon

They are black suede with a textured black, glossy snake print on the wedge. They are true to size, however, do require a bit of stretching out. They are beyond comfortable and I see myself wearing them non stop this Winter season.

If you're like me and don't think the traditional bootie (those that cover the ankle) and dress combo necessarily flatter your calves, these are the shoes for you. They still are a "bootie," but they leave the ankle exposed, resulting in seemingly slimmer calves. Yes, please!

Travel Wear Must Haves

January 06, 2015

It's a snowy day here in NOVA! As I prep for a little mini weekend getaway next week, I thought this would be a fun opportunity to share my "must haves"  for flying. Here's my take on staying comfortable without having to sacrifice your personal style. :)

Priorities

1) Be Warm and Comfy.
2) Look presentable. :)

On the Top

Cardigan: I'm always cold, so a long comfy sweater or jacket is non-negotiable.  This Open Hoodie from LOFT is not only cozy, but Super warm. It's literally like wearing a robe!

Top: This long embellished tee (on sale!) from LOFT will be the perfect layer under the cardigan. The beading adds a bit of interest, while the soft t-shirt fabric keeps me comfortable.

Bralette: Let's be real. There's nothing worse than having an underwire digging into you. Since going bra-less in public isn't an option (ha!), this Bralette from Aerie is the next best thing. The lace is super soft and the padding adds the necessary coverage.

On the Bottom

Ponte Pant: I prefer a ponte pant to jeans any day of the week. The stretch is comfortable and they feel like leggings, but with more coverage. These LOFT Colorblock Ponte Pants are my current sale favorite!

Accessories

Scarf: I always wear a scarf when traveling for some extra warmth around my neck. I'm loving this Merona Plaid Scarf from Target (on sale!). It's extra soft and adds a pop of color to my otherwise monotone outfit.

Earrings: When traveling, you can't go wrong with studs. These Crystal Ballerina Studs from BaubleBar add the perfect amount of sparkle, without going overboard.

Booties: Love me some booties! They are comfortable and easy to slip on and off for security. Pictured: Sperry Clinton Bootie

Glasses: I'm pretty much an exclusive glasses wearer. So I'm a sucker for fun frames. Coatsal.com always has great options at an awesome price!

Book: I got Gone Girl as a Christmas gift. I like to read or sleep on a plane to help the time pass more quickly. I can't wait to get lost in this read :)

Chapstick: My lips get super dry during flights, so having my Burts Bees chapstick on hand is an absolutely Must!

Bag: I always wear a crossbody bag when traveling. It's hands free and small enough to fit under the seat in front of you. This Southport Avenue Mini Maria by Kate Spade is a fantastic option . . . and it's on sale :)

Do you have any travel must haves? Share them in the comments! I'd love to hear them!
